Restaurants:  Places to eat run the gamut here from small shacks to fine dining.  There are MANY places to choose from that you can walk to from Casa de Jefe and some others that are worth the drive!  Some places serve only breakfast and lunch, only dinner or some combination of the three.  The $rating scale is for typical pricing, per person.

La Candela - $
A Cuban restaurant, on Av. 5 at the corner of Calle 6 is only open for breakfast & lunch.
Fajitas, salads, and even chicken cordon bleu!

Del Sur Empanadas - $
On the corner of Av. 5 and Calle 3, daily 5 P.M. -11 P.M.
Argentinian empanadas are like small pocket pies.  Many different fillings and you order by the piece.  I love the jalapeño with pepperoni.  For dessert, get the apple filling with the dulce de leche poured over top - YUM!

El Fish Cantina - $
On the corner of Calle 8 and Av. 10.  Closed Monday. 
Don't be surprised if you are the only foreigners here.  Local place for locals.  They bring you food as long as you are drinking beverages.  You don't get to pick what comes but it is authentic!  They do have a menu here you can order off of but you will have to pay for what you choose.  Excellent place to bring your own fish and they'll clean and cook it for you in the style you prefer for a very nominal fee.

Otates - $
On Av. 15, between Rosado Salas & Calle 3
Local Mexican food, tacos, burritos, panuchos and some great pozole!  Some English is spoken here.

El Pique Taquería - $
On Av. 30 between Benito Juarez & Calle 2, opens at 6 P.M. - midnight, 7 days a week
Local favorite taco stand.  Limited English but great food in the garden out back where the menu is on the wall!

Zermatt Bakery - $
Bakery at the intersection of Av. 5 and Calle 4, opens at 7 A.M.
Wonderful fresh bread and pastries, makes pies to order too - try the Key Lime pie!


Casa Denis - $$
Calle 1 between Av. 5 & 10 in the Pedestrian area just off the square to the north
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week from 8 A.M. - 10 P.M.
One of the oldest restaurants in Cozumel with many Mexican favorites - HOT salsa warning! 

Fratelli's Pizza - $$
On the corner of Av. 10 and Calle 8, diagonally across from El Fish.
Wood-fired, brick oven pizza, fresh hot, garlicky flatbread to dip in olive oil and balsamic, and their own Sangria.

Museo de Cozumel - $$
At the corner of Calle 6 & Rafael Melgar, 7 A.M. - 2 P.M., breakfast & lunch only.  NO CREDIT CARDS!
Great view!  Giant fresh fruit plate and wonderful omelettes.  If you want to be adventurous, ask for the "locals" menu and pick something!

Ohana - $$
On Av. 5 between Calles 6 and 8 - open for lunch and dinner!  There's a band here a few nights a week.

Palmeras - $$
On Rafael Melgar, right across from the Ferry, open 7 days a week.  Great place to people watch from.
American plates and Mexican cuisine.

Parilla Mision - $$
On Av. 30 between Calles 2 and 4, open for dinner only.
True local food that is delicious with great prices!  LOVE the fajitas and queso fundido here!

Sabores - $$
On Av. 5 between Calles 3 and 5 - open for lunch only.  You can sit indoors or walk through the kitchen to the back yard.  The comida del día is inexpensive and includes a beverage, soup, entree, and dessert, all for one low price.  Home cooking at its finest.


Buccanos - $$$
Hotel zone north of town at Playa San Juan Beach, Costera Norte 4.5 Km.  Open daily 9 A.M. - 6 P.M.  Friday and Saturday nights 6 P.M. - 11 P.M. for dinner
Breakfast and lunch are delicious and have huge portions.  Go snorkeling or hang out at the Beach Club after!

Casa Mision - $$$
Av. 55 between Benito Juarez and Calle 1. 
Eat on the Veranda of the family's house where there are parrots and take the tequila tour onsite afterwards!  Lunch includes soup as well as your entree if you ask for the comida del día.  You'll be ready for a siesta after eating here!

La Choza - $$$

On Av. 10 Sur between Dr. Rosado Salas and Calle 3
 Yucatecan style Mexican food.  Try the frozen chocolate or frozen avocado pie for dessert or carry-out!

Kinta Mexican Bistro - $$$

On Avenida 5, between Calles 2 and 4. Open Tuesday - Sunday, 6 P.M. - 11 P.M.
Eat inside in the AC or in the garden in the back.  Beautiful plants and trees with twinkle lights and a resident cat named Conchita.

El Moro - $$$
On Av. 75 Bis between Calles 2 and 4.  Open 1 P.M. - 11 P.M. everyday except Thursday.
We eat here every time we come to Cozumel for the mole (pronounced moe-lay) - a cocoa based sauce, served with meat.  Giant menu - if you like seafood, try the Zacharias platter for 2 (or more!) people with a taste of everything.

La Perlita Seafood - $$$

On Calle 10 between Av. 65 Bis and 70. 
Try the lionfish - tastes like grouper without the guilt!


La Cocay - $$$$

On Calle 8 between Av. 10 and 15.   Open Monday - Saturday for dinner, 5:30 P.M. - 11 P.M.
Mediterranean and Mexican food, salads, and a great burger!

Prima - $$$$
On the top floor of El Cantil, just south of Calle 11 on the waterfront.
Prime rib, crab legs, & personal sized pizzas.
